About me

Francisco José Mañas Álvarez

He obtained a degree in Industrial Electronic Engineering in 2017 and a master's degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Almería, Spain, in 2019. He completed a master's degree in Systems and Control Engineering in 2021/22 at the Spanish National University for Distance Education (UNED), where he also defended his PhD thesis, "Development, control and evaluation of a heterogeneous multi-agent robotic platform," in 2023. He currently holds a tenure-track position (Profesor Ayudante Doctor) at the Department of Computer Science and Automatic Control.

As a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Automatic Control at the ETSI Informática (UNED), my teaching covers multivariable and predictive control at master's level and advanced operating systems and systems modeling at bachelor's level. In the field of robotics with ROS 2, I coordinate a three-course Continuing Education sequence (Introduction, Intermediate and Advanced) designed to take students from the fundamentals of the framework to advanced topics such as micro-ROS, MoveIt 2, digital twins or the integration of AI in robotic systems. I also co-supervise Bachelor's and Master's theses related to control applied to mobile and aerial robotics with ROS 2.
